Easy recipe for Sweet and Sour Chicken Hong Kong Style (Gluten free)

Quick and easy recipe for Sweet and Sour Chicken Hong Kong Style using gluten free, plant-based Chinese Sweet and Sour Sauce produced by Tsang Sauce.

Serves 2 people


1 chicken breast fillet (approx 170g)
100g cornflour
50g onions
50g red pepper
50g green pepper
70g pineapple
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1.5 teaspoon sesame oil
2 eggs Vegetable oil
1 jar Tsang Sweet & Sour Sauce

Prepare the chicken

1. Cut the chicken into bite size cubes
2. Place them in a bowl
3. Add pepper, sea salt and sesame oil to the chicken
4. Mix
5. Get a separate bowl of whisked eggs
6. Place the chicken cubes into the bowl of whisked eggs, then cover it in cornflour. Ensure each chicken is fully coated with cornflour

Cook the chicken

1. Put a sheet of greaseproof paper on a baking tray
2. Spray some oil on this
3. Place the chicken into the greaseproof paper
4. Spray oil over the chicken
5. Bake for 15-20 mins at 210 degrees

Cook the vegetables

1. Add small amount of vegetable oil to your wok. Heat it up for a few minutes
2. Add in the onions, red and green peppers
3. Cook to your desired texture
4. Add Tsang Sweet & Sour Sauce
5. When the sauce is starting to bubble, add in the chicken and pineapple. Stir for 10 seconds. We don’t want the chicken to cook too long so the batter can remain crispy
6. Serve with rice 🍚
